Andhra Pradesh schools to Start on June 12: After a prolonged closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, schools in Andhra Pradesh are set to reopen for the current academic year on June 12th. The state government has released the annual academic calendar for 2023-24, which includes details of the academic schedule, teachers’ duties, cultural activities, language clubs, and more.
Ensuring access to education for all students
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed education department officials to ensure that every mandal has two junior colleges, one for girls and the other in a co-education format. He has also called for the upgrading of high schools into junior colleges based on the population. To ensure access to education for all students, the Chief Minister has instructed officials to work towards achieving a 100 percent gross enrollment ratio (GER) in schools.
Training teachers on innovative teaching methods
The Chief Minister has emphasized the need to equip teachers with the skills and knowledge required to use innovative teaching methods. To this end, officials have been directed to train teachers on the use of IFP panels, send video content, and use smart televisions. Engineering college faculty will offer demonstrations to train teachers, and about 20,000 engineering students will undergo internships and later train teachers in using the latest technology.
Equipping schools with internet facility
To enable students to access online resources and participate in distance learning, the Chief Minister has instructed officials to equip all 45,000 schools in the state with internet facilities. This will ensure that students from all corners of the state have access to quality education.
