Elon Musk accuses BBC journalist on Wednessday for lying about hate speech on Twitter: In a recent interview, Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, challenged a BBC journalist who claimed that there was a rise in hateful posts on the platform. When the journalist was asked to provide examples of hate speech, he was unable to do so.
Musk argued that hate speech on Twitter has actually decreased, and accused the journalist of lying about its prevalence. The BBC was recently labeled as a “government-funded media” on Twitter, which the broadcaster strongly refuted.
During the interview, Musk also commented on the strict social media laws in India and Twitter’s compliance with them. The government had requested Twitter to take down over 50 tweets with links to a BBC documentary critical of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Musk stated that Twitter would comply with the laws of the country, even if it meant taking down content.
