Microsoft to Try True AI-centric: Microsoft is gearing up to unveil a new lineup of Surface devices in early 2024, showcasing its commitment to integrating cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) features for an enhanced user experience. Led by Panos Panay, the Surface hardware division has been known for introducing top-notch tablets and computers.
According to reliable sources, Microsoft’s Spring event is expected to reveal a high-end Surface Pro and a premium Surface Laptop. These devices will be equipped with Intel’s 14th-gen CPUs and Qualcomm Snapdragon X series options. The ARM-based processors are anticipated to rival the performance of Apple’s M series silicon-based MacBooks. The hardware is optimized to seamlessly support AI-powered features, signaling a significant leap in technological innovation.
The upcoming Surface Pro 10 is rumored to boast a 2160 x 1440p resolution screen with HDR support, while the Surface Laptop 6 series may feature a sleeker design, vibrant display, and slim bezels. Available in 13.8-inch and 15-inch sizes, the Surface Laptop 6 will maintain a slim profile while incorporating Type-A USB support, two Type-C ports, and a magnet-based charging port.
These devices will also be the first to feature the next-generation Windows OS, internally known as Hudson Valley. Microsoft aims to deliver improvements in design, battery life, and display quality, offering users a more immersive computing experience.
Additionally, Microsoft is reportedly considering separate commercial variants of the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop tailored for corporate use. These variants will maintain the design language of their predecessors but will incorporate upgrades such as Intel’s latest 14th-gen chipsets, a wider field-of-view web camera, and Near Field Communication (NFC) support.
Looking ahead, the successor to Windows 11 is slated for a late 2024 release, bringing further advancements in the operating system. While there is confirmation of ongoing work on the next version of the Surface Go series, there is no specific timeline for its release at this time.
