- The scheme will benefit 1,000 students (500 boys and 500 girls) studying in Class 10.
- The selected students will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 1,000 until they complete Class 12.
- They will also get an annual stipend of Rs 12,000 during their undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
- The scheme will connect students to higher education institutions such as IIT Madras for guidance and support.
IIT-Madras Initiative to Connect with Govt School Students
The Chief Minister made the announcement while inaugurating an initiative of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-Madras) to connect with one lakh government school students in Tamil Nadu studying in rural areas. As part of this outreach programme, IIT-Madras distributed electronic kits to the government school students. The initiative is called Anaivarukkum IITM (IIT-M for All), and it aims to motivate students to take up a career in semiconductor technologies through lectures and hands-on experience.
