WhatsApp Executive Reveals Hacks To Keep Messages Private & Secure

WhatsApp Executive Reveals Hacks: WhatsApp, a widely used messaging platform, is committed to prioritizing user privacy through its implementation of end-to-end encryption (E2EE). This encryption ensures that messages are secure by encrypting them on the sender’s device and allowing decryption only on the recipient’s device, making interception and deciphering by unauthorized entities challenging.

Despite WhatsApp’s emphasis on user privacy, there have been instances where message backups were leaked, prompting an executive from WhatsApp to share valuable tips on enhancing message privacy and security.

  1. Default Encryption: WhatsApp automatically activates end-to-end encryption (E2EE) as the default setting, providing a fundamental level of security for all messages.
  2. Disappearing Messages: Users are advised to activate the Disappearing Messages feature for all their chats, especially in situations where trust is uncertain or on devices that may pose a security risk. This feature allows users to set a timer (e.g., 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days) after which all messages, including pictures and videos, will automatically vanish.
  3. Encryption for Backups: To prevent Google and Apple from accessing backup data, users can choose to enable or disable end-to-end encrypted backups. This precautionary measure can be activated by navigating to Settings > Chats > Chat backup and turning on the option for end-to-end encrypted backup.
  4. Chat Lock for Sensitivity: For chats containing sensitive information, users can utilize the Chat Lock feature. By selecting the chat, clicking on the profile name, and choosing “lock chat,” users can secure it with a passcode, adding an extra layer of protection against unauthorized access.
  5. Secure Calls: To enhance security during voice calls, users are encouraged to use features such as Silence Unknown Calls and Call Relay. Silence Unknown Calls filters out calls from unfamiliar numbers, combating 0-click attacks, while Call Relay safeguards against IP surveillance during calls. Users can activate these features by going to Settings > Privacy > Calls.

By implementing these straightforward adjustments in WhatsApp settings, users can reinforce their accounts against potential hacks and strengthen overall security.
